Just some of the ways in which you can help rescues!
Good on you for wanting to help!
This quick start guide aims to give you a short introduction to the help requests posted by rescues on the forum. For more information please feel free to ask!
On the front page on the forum scroll down to see a panel called 'Rescue Help Needed'. These are divided into different sections: Homechecking, Fostering, Transport, Rescue Backup, Assessment and Fundraising.
If you feel you can help with any of these please do consider adding your details to our database here: http://animallifeline.forumotion.net/homechecking-transport-fostering-f52/ You don't have to add any personal details, but if an urgent request comes up in your area that you might be able to help with we can contact you to let you know.

Homechecking
If you would like to help rescues by Homechecking you can keep an eye on this section for requests in your area. The homechecking section can be found here: http://animallifeline.forumotion.net/homechecking-f176/ To offer simply write a post stating how you can help on the thread you're interested in.
If you have never carried out a homecheck before but still want to help, don't worry. We can either help to put you in touch with local training courses or if you'd prefer to train 'on the job' to get practical experience we can help to arrange for you to 'tagalong' on other homechecks in your area. This would entail accompanying experienced homecheckers who would be able to pass on their advice and demonstrate how they would normally carry out a homecheck.
Please also see our 'Homechecking Guidelines' for more information.
.........................................................................................
Transport
If you would like to help with transport runs you can keep an eye on this section for requests in your area. The transport section can be found here: http://animallifeline.forumotion.net/transport-f177/ To offer simply write a post stating how you can help on the thread you're interested in.
This can involve transporting dogs from pounds to rescues, animals to and from foster homes, from current owners to rescues, taking animals to the vets or even to their forever homes. Whatever the reason, you will be helping to get those animal to safety, and it can be incredibly rewarding to know you've had a part to play in that.
At the top of each transporting section are rules, guidelines and advice to help you carry out transport runs safely.
.........................................................................................
Fostering
If you would like to help with fostering please keep an eye on this section for requests in your area. The fostering section can be found here: http://animallifeline.forumotion.net/fostering-f178/ To offer simply write a post stating how you can help on the thread you're interested in.
Fosterers are a fantastic lifeline and allow rescues to help more animals, and place those in urgent need of a home environment in suitable accommodation. Again, this is incredibly rewarding work so if you do have time to give and a space in your home please consider helping to take on a foster animal.
.........................................................................................
Rescue Backup
This often involves trying to find rescue spaces for dogs in pounds to get them to safety. It can also involve trying to find rescue places for animals that are being rehomed privately. If you do have any time to spare then please consider keeping an eye on this section and contacting your local rescues if you think they might be able to offer a rescue space to any of the animals. The rescue backup section can be found here: http://animallifeline.forumotion.net/rescue-backup-f179/ To offer simply write a post stating how you can help on the thread you're interested in.
.........................................................................................
Assessments
Experienced assessors are always needed to help rescues assess animals (very often dogs) before coming into rescue or going into homes. The assessment section can be found here: http://animallifeline.forumotion.net/assessments-f180/ To offer simply write a post stating how you can help on the thread you're interested in.
.........................................................................................
Fundraising
Volunteers are always needed to help raise money to help rescues carry out the fantastic work they do. Please keep an eye on this section for any special appeals you may be able to help with: http://animallifeline.forumotion.net/fundraising-f181/ To offer simply write a post stating how you can help on the thread you're interested in.
